Beth Prevor

Co-Founder & Executive Director

For over four decades, Beth has been a leader in disability access with a focus on Deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. A Co-founder of Hands On, she has had the privilege of leading the organization to it’s current position as a leader in the field of interpreted theater.

Her prior roles include Director of Interpreting Services for the NYC Department of Education, Program Coordinator at NYU’s Center for Students with Disabilities, and Director of Operations at the New York Society for the Deaf. Beth also serves on numerous advisory boards advancing access to the arts. Early in her career, she worked as a freelance theatrical stage manager on and off Broadway. She holds a B.A. in Theatre from Brooklyn College, an M.A. in Deafness Rehabilitation from New York University, and a Certificate in Audiences, Engagement, and Participation from the University of Leeds (UK). As a disabled person, her advocacy work on the importance of access to the arts is both personal and professional.

Dylan Geil

Director of Operations

Dylan Geil is a nationally certified sign language interpreter with over 15 years of experience. In his career Dylan has been fortunate to work in a variety of settings but there’s none he loves more than when he’s working in the theater. He’s had the honor and pleasure of being mentored by some of the field’s pioneers and current leaders, including Candace Broecker-Penn and Lynnette Taylor. With their guidance and support he’s had the pleasure of leading teams of interpreters for theater rehearsals, workshops, and productions both off and on Broadway. Since moving to NYC he’s interpreted over 50 productions. In 2019 he began supporting Hands On in a more official capacity. As the Director of Operations he is responsible for production coordination, financial systems, and all the other little things that go into running a non-profit. He is honored to help further the mission and legacy of Hands On.

Britta Schwall

Social Media Manager

As a culturally Deaf individual, Britta understands firsthand the significance of high-quality interpretation. She takes great pride in working with the best professionals to provide exceptional theater experiences for deaf/hard of hearing individuals in the center of the theatre world: New York City.

Currently, Britta works at the ASL Education Center, revolutionizing how American Sign Language (ASL) signers navigate, learn, and interact with the world through ASL. Outside work, she derives pleasure in exploring new places, whether globe-trotting or adventuring in the mountains (both on foot and on a board), creating art, and reading page-turner books.

John McGinty

Production Coordinator

John is thrilled to be part of the Hands On team, combining two things deeply close to his heart: the Deaf community and theater. As a proud Deaf actor and accessibility professional, John brings both lived experience and a lifelong passion for creating meaningful access to the arts.

John has appeared on Broadway in Children of a Lesser God, King Lear, and Our Town, as well as on stages and screens beyond Broadway. Having experienced theater from the stage, the audience, and behind the scenes, he understands firsthand how meaningful it is for Deaf/HoH/DB/etc. audiences to have access to the full theatrical experience.

As Production Coordinator, John is excited to support Hands On’s longstanding mission of making arts and cultural experiences accessible to Deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences. For him, this work feels especially full-circle: helping connect the Deaf community to an art form that has played such an important role in his own life.

John is honored to work alongside the incredible Hands On team, interpreters, artists, and theater partners who help bring accessible theater to life—and is thrilled to contribute to the next chapter of HandsOn’s remarkable legacy.

Candace Broecker Penn

Production Coordinator

Candice is the co-founder of Hands On, and a heritage signer and alumna of the National Theatre of the Deaf. A nationally certified interpreter (CI, CT, CSC, OIC:C), she specializes in interpreting for the arts, theatre, film and television.

She has interpreted over 200 performances on and off Broadway, including Death of a Salesman, Fallen Angels, This World of Tomorrow, Enemy of the People, Into the Woods, Hadestown, and Dear Evan Hansen. A highlight was interpreting Sarah Snook’s acclaimed solo performance of 26 characters in The Picture of Dorian Gray. She has also appeared in Alex Borstein’s Corsets & Clown Suits and Frederick Wiseman’s Ex Libris.

Candace co-founded and taught the national TDF/Juilliard “Interpreting for Theatre” seminar for 12 years, and continues to present theatre interpreting workshops. She is co-author of Sign Language Interpreting for Theatre: A Collaborative Approach. She also enjoys coordinating and mentoring interpreters at The New Victory Theatre, the performing arts theatre dedicated to kids, families, and schools in the heart of Broadway’s theatre district.

Justine Rivera

Production Coordinator

Justine is a Deaf-parented, and nationally certified sign language interpreter, and coordinator with 18 years of professional experience. She serves as a liaison between interpreting teams and theater venues to ensure every interpreted performance is seamless and accessible. In 2024, Justine officially joined Hands On as the Production Coordinator, stepping in to manage the scheduling, communications and on-site logistics that make productions welcoming to the Deaf community. She is deeply grateful to both the Deaf and interpreter communities for the values they have instilled in her, which guide her work every day. Justine is honored to utilize her deep roots in New York and her nearly two decades of experience to further the mission and legacy of Hands On.

Craig Fogel

Production Coordinator

Craig is a nationally certified interpreter and a proud graduate of the LaGuardia ASL-English Interpretation Program. He has had the pleasure of interpreting shows for audiences on Broadway, off-Broadway, and regionally, and is grateful to work regularly with talented Deaf artists in auditions, rehearsal rooms, on sets, and beyond.

At Hands On, Craig coordinates every interpreted performance at The Public Theater, including Free Shakespeare in the Park. Shakespeare in the Park holds a special place in his heart: each summer it brings together so many members of the Deaf community, including those who may not make it to the theater any other time of year. He also organizes community gatherings around the shows, from the pre-show Shakespeare picnic to post-show receptions, because the time spent together is as much a part of the experience as the performance itself.

Craig loves theater and being part of the teams that enable Deaf and hearing friends and loved ones to enjoy the art form together. He is honored to help interpreted theater continue to grow and thrive in New York City, the theater capital of the world.
