SUMMARY:Take Shape
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nTime: 7:30 PM\nTickets: We have set aside a limited numbe
r of complimentary tickets to welcome members of the Deaf and hard of hear
ing community on Monday April 18. Please click here to reserve your free t
ickets. Interpreters or hearing allies\, please use the code "BKBXDeaf" f
or a discount.\nOn April 18 there will be ASL-English interpreters in the
lobby before the show\, and throughout the evening.\nBroken Box Mime Theat
er\, an NYC-based physical theater company\, tells imaginative &amp\; thea
trical stories without spoken language. The visual nature of our medium ma
kes the shows accessible without translation for hearing\, hard of hearing
\, and Deaf audiences.\nThis April we are debuting Take Shape\, our newest
collection of short stories. In Take Shape\, BKBX explores ten stories o
f emergence and transformation.  What does it look like for a relationshi
p to outgrow its shell like a hermit crab?  How does an astronaut move af
ter years of being alone? How long does it take\, after an eviction\, for
a home to become an empty room? The collection of stories includes apocaly
 ptic farce\, high-stakes heist\, metaphorical image collage\, and grounded
naturalistic drama. In each narrative piece\, the modern mimes of BKBX il
lustrate how the shapes of our worlds\, bodies\, and ideas can shift and r
eshift around and within us.\nJoin us for BKBX’s first mainstage show in
three years\, devised by our cast and accompanied live by resident music
collaborator Jack McGuire. Rich fields of light and a textured soundtrack
will bring these nonverbal stories to life\, reminding us all of the power
of live storytelling.\nThe show is a collection of short stories told wit
hout spoken language. Music accompanies each piece\, but there are no soun
d effects and the storytelling is all visual. On Deaf night\, bass will be
enhanced in the theater for a more sensory experience. Each of the ten pi
eces is titled with a written English title card.\nCan’t make it on 4/18
? We love Deaf audiences every night! Use code "BKBXDeaf" for discounted t
ickets to any performance through the run.\n\n\n\n--\nTake Shape runs Apri
 l 1 - May 1 Thursdays\, Fridays\, Saturdays\, and Mondays at 7:30pm\, and
Sundays at 2pm.\nWant to help out AND see the show for free? We always nee
d ushers! Email bkbxoffice@gmail.com with the date of the performance you
 ’d like to usher for!\n\n\n\n\n\n
