DESCRIPTION:\n\nTime: 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM\nTickets: Astronomy Nights are free
 . Doors will open promptly at 5:00 pm\, Last entry to the Museum is at 8:
 30 pm (doors subject to close earlier\, entry is not guaranteed). All visi
 tors must enter through the Welcome Center to receive a ticket prior to en
 tering the Museum. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAstronomy Nights are back!\n\nThe muse
 um will open to the public for free from 5:00pm-9:00pm and will include a 
 talk between Apollo 13 astronaut Fred Haise and former NASA astronaut Mike
  Massimino about Haise's new book Never Panic Early: An Apollo 13 Astronau
 t's Journey. Educational activities\, demonstrations\, and stargazing with
  local astronomers will also be available throughout the evening!\n\nSched
 ule*:\n\n5:30pm-7:30pm - Families and visitors with young children are inv
 ited to take part in the following drop-in activities:\n\n\nLunar Landers:
  Build and test your own lunar lander that can safely land when dropped fr
 om a high distance.\nDesign a Space Capsule: Design your own space capsule
  that can sustain three astronauts on their journey through space.\n5:30pm
 -7:30pm - Learn about Space Capsules - Mercury Capsule: Talk with a Museum
  Educator and discuss the Mercury-Atlas 7 and Gemini III missions that occ
 urred during the Space Race!\n6:00pm &amp\; 7:00pm - Poof! Life in a Vacuu
 m Demonstration: Discover the importance of the Earth's atmosphere and why
  astronauts need to wear spacesuits. Using a bell jar and vacuum pump\, Mu
 seum educators will mimic the vacuum of space and its effect on objects.\n
 6:30pm - Join Apollo 13 astronaut Fred Haise in conversation with former N
 ASA astronaut Mike Massimino\, on Haise’s new memoir\, Never Panic Early
 : An Apollo 13 Astronaut’s Journey. The talk will take place in the Intr
 epid Museum's Space Shuttle Pavilion. (approx. 45 minutes)\nFollowing the 
 talk\, Fred Haise and Co-Author Bill Moore\, will do a book signing. Books
  will be available for purchase the night of the program. The Space Shuttl
 e Pavilion will open to the public at 6:15pm. Entrance is not guaranteed i
 f we reach capacity.\n7:00pm-9:00pm - Flight Deck telescope viewing with t
 he Amateur Astronomers Association\n*American Sign Language (ASL) interpre
 tation will be available for select Intrepid Museum demonstrations\, the b
 ook talk and signing\, and telescope viewing on the flight deck.\n--\nWhil
 e face masks are no longer required\, we strongly recommend wearing masks 
 at indoor locations. We ask that each person's individual choice is respec
 ted.\n\n\n\n
