SUMMARY:Intrepid Museum Presents Astronomy Night
DESCRIPTION:American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be available f
 or select Intrepid Museum demonstrations\, featured panel\, and telescope 
 viewing on the flight deck. Families and individuals who are deaf or hard
  of hearing can pre-register to receive priority entry to the Museum and a
  visual schedule of the night's events.\n\nPriority access for families an
 d individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing\n\n\n\nAstronomy Nights are 
 FREE and feature fun-filled and educational experiences for the whole fami
 ly\, including talks from leading scientists and activities &amp\; demos l
 ed by Museum educators. Local astronomers will be on hand with their high-
 powered telescopes to help visitors navigate the night sky and answer ques
 tions about astronomy and stargazing. Guests are welcome to bring their ow
 n binoculars or look through the telescopes of the experts.\n\n\nSchedule*
 :\n\n5:30pm-7:30pm - Families and visitors with young children are invited
  to take part in drop-in activities. Activities include:\n\n 	Astronaut Se
 lf-Portrait: Create a portrait of yourself as one of the next astronauts t
 o go to the Moon.\n 	Mission Medallion: Create a commemorative medallion f
 or a future space mission.\n\n5:30-7:30pm - Breath of Fresh Air: Guests wi
 ll do a small science experiment to learn how astronauts clean CO2 out of 
 the air they breathe in space.\n\n6:00pm &amp\; 7:00pm - Poof! Life in a V
 acuum Demonstration: Discover the importance of the Earth's atmosphere and
  why astronauts need to wear spacesuits. Using a bell jar and vacuum pump\
 , Museum educators will mimic the vacuum of space and its effect on object
 s.\n\n6:30pm-7:30pm - Special Featured Guest Discussion. The talk will tak
 e place in the Intrepid Museum's Space Shuttle Pavilion. Live streaming of
  the conversation will be available if you can't make it in person to Intr

 - Telescope viewing with observers from the Amateur Astronomers Associatio
 n and Unistellar. Backed by partnerships with renowned scientific organiza
 tions\, such as NASA and SETI Institute\, Unistellar contributes to cuttin
 g-edge research on astronomical phenomena\, including exoplanets\, asteroi

 open promptly at 5:00pm\, Last entry to the Museum is at 8:30 pm (doors su
