lore Taking Back Our Space: Photographic Perspectives with assistant curat
or Caitlin Ryan. The exhibition brings artist Marianne Wex’s watershed f
eminist photography project into dialogue with contemporary artists Nona F
 austine\, Martine Gutierrez\, K8 Hardy\, Yuki Kihara\, Joiri Minaya\, Paul
ina Olowska\, and Wendy Red Star. These contemporary practitioners reappra
ise the relationship of bodies to public space from Black\, queer\, and 21
st-century feminist perspectives. In this context\, the notion of “takin
g back space” resonates as a reclamation of physical territory\, histori
cal narratives\, and the ability to represent oneself.\n--\n\n\n\nImage cr
