 ide their selectors\, at a first-ever public ceremony\, featuring readings
  from the writers’ debut works and a conversation with the authors. In 2
 006\, the National Book Foundation established the 5 Under 35 prize to rec
 ognize young\, debut fiction writers whose work promises to leave a lastin
 g impression on the literary landscape. Each year\, five honorees under th
 e age of thirty-five are selected by authors previously recognized by the
