 n\nJosé Parlá celebrates the release of his new publication Ciclos: Bloo
 ms of Mold in this edition of Artist’s Eye\, the Museum’s series of in
 timate talks by contemporary artists who bring fresh perspectives to our s
 pecial exhibitions.\n\nParlá is joined by his friend and fellow artist Ha
 nk Willis Thomas to discuss Parlá’s five large-scale landscape painting
 s featured in Brooklyn Abstraction: Four Artists\, Four Walls. The series\
 , also titled Ciclos: Blooms of Mold\, explores the artist’s life\, incl
 uding his recovery from a near-fatal infection with COVID-19 in 2021. The 
 two artists also ruminate on Parlá’s study of mycelium—vast formation
 s of fungi that compose communication networks within the natural world—
 as well as the functions of creative communities as support systems and ar
