 .\nGeneration after generation\, America’s changing population has chang
 ed its musical landscape. Join us for a conversation that explores the div
 ersity of Latin music and culture\, and how these rhythms and traditions h
 ave been integral to American music from its historical roots to the prese
 nt day. The panelists will share their musical influences\, talk about how
  cross-cultural experiences have shaped their artistry\, and consider how 
 Latin culture is represented in the American music industry through a crit
 ical lens. Spanning personal stories\, historical context\, and the contem
 porary music scene\, this talk will open a dialogue on how the global exch
 ange of art and culture continues to expand and define the American songbo
 ok.\nModerated by Julyssa LopezPanelists include Linda Briceño\, Carlos C
 hirinos\, Jaime Lozano\, and Sofia Rei\nJulyssa Lopez is a staff writer at
  Rolling Stone\, where she covers the Latin music industry. Previously\, s
 he was a contributor at the Nation\, where she covered music and the arts\
 , and a freelance writer for the New Yorker's Goings On About Town section
 .\nLinda Briceño is a trumpeter\, vocalist\, and Latin Grammy award–win
 ning producer. Her latest album explores issues of immigration\, the perso
 nal history of American immigrants\, and newly orchestrated renditions of 
 the work of Latin American writers.\nCarlos Chirinos\, Ph.D. is a Music an
 d Global Health Associate Professor at New York University. His research a
 nd practice explores the intersection of popular music\, community engagem
 ent\, and public health in Africa and Latin America.\nJaime Lozano is a mu
 sical theatre composer who has been heralded as the “next big thing” o
 n Broadway by Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda. A native of Monterrey\, Mex
 ico\, he earned his M.F.A. from the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Progr
 am at NYU/Tisch School of the Arts.\nAward-winning vocalist\, songwriter\,
  and producer Sofia Rei carries diverse Latin American traditions from her
  native Buenos Aires to New York City\, where she’s fused those sounds w
 ith jazz\, experimental music\, pop\, and electronic music influences.\nCl
